What to expect

As a Doula, I will help keep the birthing person and their partner informed about what’s going on with the course of labor, as well as provide you access to evidence-based information about birth options.

Throughout your labor and delivery, as your doula, I will be in constant and close proximity to you and will be providing you with continuous support. Your care provider and nurses will be checking in and monitoring you, as well as other patients. While you are laboring, you will be my only focus and I am dedicated to supporting you entirely.   

As your doula, I am versed in various pain-relieving comfort measures. I will help get you as comfortable as possible using my knowledge and skills regarding breathing techniques, relaxation techniques, massage, and various laboring and birthing positions. 

Having emotional support is known to help bring the birthing person a sense of pride and empowerment after birth. One of my primary goals as a Doula is to care for the birthing person's emotional health and help to have positive birth memories. 

As your needs for decision making arise, I will be beside you to help you to navigate your choices. I will provide you with objective, and evidence-based information that will help guide you towards the decisions that are right for you, your birth, and your family.   

As a doula, I can not perform clinical tasks, such as vaginal exams or fetal heart monitoring. I do not give medical advice or diagnose conditions. I can not make medical decisions for you or pressure you into certain choices. I will never take over the role of your partner or medical provider.
