Placenta encapsulation is the practice of ingesting the placenta after being steamed or raw, dehydrated, ground and placed into pills. Traditionally, this is taken by the mother and is believed to include numerous health benefits. Placenta capsules frequently are taken shortly after giving birth, during a women's menstrual cycle, or during menopause with the belief, it helps counter some symptoms of menopause.

I pick up 8 am-8 pm most days. Please bring a disposable hot/cold bag, (or contact me and I can provide you with one) and four 1-gallon zip lock bags (double bag your placenta and fill the other 2 with ice) to the hospital. Keep your placenta on ice, the nursing staff can supply ice as needed. If I am your Doula I will bring the placenta home with me to start your placenta encapsulation immediately. Please check the ice regularly to ensure proper cooling is maintained. If pick-up is delayed or if your hospital requires immediate removal of the placenta, it can be stored in your fridge for 48 hours. Please freeze if it will be with you longer than that. Most placenta pills, tinctures, and salves are ready for pick-up within 48 hours. Tinctures do take an additional 6 weeks to infuse before they are ready for use. I pick up anywhere from Modesto - Stockton - Turlock and all of Stanislaus + San Joaquin counties
Safety is #1 to me! I check the temperature of the placenta at the time of pick up and store it in a dedicated placenta encapsulation refrigerator with a thermometer. The preparation space and equipment are cleaned with hospital-grade disinfectant before and after the preparation of your placenta. Any multi-use equipment is cleaned and then soaked in a hospital-grade disinfectant. Followed by a wash with clean water. I always use personal protective equipment (PPE): mask, hair covering, gloves, goggles, and gown. I only ever process one placenta at a time and generally only have one placenta in my possession at a time for the safety of my birthers and myself. If a home birth and I am your doula you have the option to encapsulate your placenta in your own home reaping the benefits of your placenta pills within 24 hours.
